I can’t believe what has just happened, we had sex in his office, not just sex, mind-blowing, life-altering sex. And it was so much better than I remember, better than my dreams, that brought me back to him.

Even after what I thought he had done, my mind went into shock, fight or flight, as they call it. I walked away to protect myself and he found me. He wouldn’t let me leave until I had heard him out. I softened a little when he threw me over his shoulder; I had to stifle a laugh as well as being angry. I told him the truth and he apologised to me, over and over again. There was something different about how he said it, the feeling behind it was….worry, almost like he thought he would lose me.

I told him he was nothing like Glen, when I saw his face after what I said about not being able to go through that again. I know my heart couldn’t take it. I’m still not ready to admit my feelings to myself, let alone anyone else.

I thought of him as my own personal brand of sunshine, “Oh shit!” I put my face in my hands when I walked over to where everyone was at the table, I said it out loud! I can feel my cheeks going red. That’s why you should never drink Millie, I lecture myself. I can’t seem to keep my thoughts in my head around him, and he told me I was jealous. I mean I was, still am, a little, if I’m honest, but that man is a fucking God, inside and out, and…wow, my body feels like it’s alive after what he did to me. I’m on cloud nine, not only from feeling like I’m getting my old self back, but from the way he touches me, it’s like he wants to memorise every part of me.

It’s a new feeling for me, one I still need to process but I’ll leave that for another day. I want to savour it now. I’m happy, totally happy and it’s been a very long time since I could honestly say that to myself and it’s all because of him.

When I reach the table, everyone is much drunker than when I left them, but they all look like they are having a great time. Em and Dan are still dancing together, arms wrapped around each other. When she spots me, she grabs Dan’s hand and tugs him over towards me.

“You’re back!” she shouts over the music, and wraps her arms around me.

“Yes,” I chuckle, “I’m sorry I took off Em. I should never have left you. It’s your hen night.”

“Do I look bothered?” I laugh at that. “I have had a great night. I know why you went and it’s okay. I gave him a right mouthful just after you left. I take it he found you? He had no idea what he had done. I don’t even think he realised what the silly dick there was doing,” she points over at Jane.
